Peach Pit Book

Peach Pit is a book of instructions meant to act as a field guide full of experiences that cultivate thought on food systems, mythologies, traditions, and quirks of southern foods, cooking, and food production. Each spread includes a different piece the reader can create and experience themselves. Along with lists of items needed & instructions detailing how to complete each piece, I archived artifacts & embedded QR codes to add cultural context to each piece. This format was inspired by Yoko Ono's Grapefruit (1964). This webpage also features a process book I created throughout the conception, writing, and completion of Peach Pit.

Found Imagery

A box of Franklin County High School yearbook slides taken in the 70's were found by my mother near a dumpster behind the school. I sorted through around 600 of them to archive and include images that relate to this book's content. Here are a few select examples.

I found locations for, scheduled, styled, & shot around twenty photo sessions with rural North East Georgia residents for the original imagery in this book. A strong focus was placed on color schemes and composition.

Final Product

Although this book has not been printed, it has been published online & mockups of a physical book were made. Included in this section are page designs, spread designs, and the finalized typography details.
